A Bit of History:
In 1994 I took on a part-time position for fun working at an estate and vintage jewelry shop; there I gained a love and appreciation for collectibles and the history behind them.
The further I delved into the individual backgrounds of the various antiques, jewelry, and curios the shop carried, the more fascinated I became with the process of uncovering provenance and value.
I was hooked on the possible back stories associated with these items. This let me to a period of collecting objects that appealed to my sense of beauty, that were unique, and had history.
This fascination became my springboard to my formal education in gemmology and appraisal studies. My studies wouldn’t have been complete without gaining memberships to various professional appraisal organizations. Further self-education in the form of a reference library became an all-consuming obsession particularly in gems, antique and vintage jewelry, and collectibles of all types that had age and historical significance.
Since then I have worked in various capacities within the jewelry industry as well as in appraisal & gemmology instruction. I’ve attended trade shows, seminars, appraisal specialty workshops, as well as gem & jewelry conferences. My professional development is continuous, to keep up with the changes happening within the industry and to broaden my foundation knowledge. I have created and presented webinars on the topics of luxury watches and jewellery connoisseurship.
